Hi All,

Just thought I would send an email out to everybody to keep every body in the loop.

New members – Congratulations to Tuan who has become a paid up member, and Ying who has also decided to join our club.  Also welcome back James who has decided to return to our club.  We now have 26 people on the club email list.

What’s happening in February:
Wednesday 11th – Weekly meeting, in temporary room BSC2.06
Wednesday 18th – Weekly meeting, back to our regular room MB2.01
Friday 20th – Club Officer training.  This is mainly for members that have executive roles in the club  (eg PR, Treasurer, Membership, Education), but anyone else is welcome to attend.
Monday 23rd – Semester One lectures start for Massey students.
Wednesday 25th – Weekly meeting – probably the first for the year for many returning students.  This is also clubs day, so a couple of us will be absent from the meeting to man a stall about our club.

Our Club is on Track!
Each year (July-June) toastmasters clubs have certain goals to achieve.  We are awarded ‘Distinguished Club’ by achieving 5 goals, and we get ‘Select Distinguished Club’ for achieving 7.  So far we are on track to achieve 6!!

1)       New Competent Communicators  (Toni has finished, & Geoff has one more speech),

2)       One Competent Leader  (Geoff aims to be finished by end June)

3)       4 new members  (we achieved this late last year)

4)       An additional 4 members  (we also achieved this)

5)       4 members attend officer training twice per year (we were successful in the first meeting, and will endue to be successful later this month)

6)       Club dues submitted  (achieved – thanks Graham)

To receive the Select Distinguished Club award we need to achieve just one more of the following:

1)       2 more competent communicators  (anyone else think they might finish by end June?)    or

2)       1 more competent leader  (does anyone think they are nearing completion of this?)

3)       1 Advanced communicator (Tim?  Or anyone else? Would you be close to completing this?)

Even if we are not able to achieve a seveth goal, I think we can give ourselves a pat on the back for getting at least the “Distinguished Club” award.

Make it your own
It’s all on for another year. If you are keen to get speeches done be sure to let us know – this is your club and a great opportunity for you to take control of your own personal development. What do you want to see happen in your club? What do you like, what do you not like?  Be sure to give me all your feedback.

Where are you lurkers?
We currently have 18 members, but 26 people on the email list.  If you have been away over the summer, or haven’t been to a meeting for a while, how about replying to this email with a brief update of where you are,  and perhaps when you expect to return to meetings.  It’s cool to know where everybody is at J

Finally, if anyone has any questions or wants to contact me personally without replying to the email list, feel free to contact me personally,

See you round,

Geoff Hunt
Club President
